Biography

Tony Caccavone has nearly 25 years’ experience in the transport industry commencing his career as a graduate civil engineer with Railtrack. Tony joined the Nichols Group in 2004 and undertook a variety of roles for transport infrastructure providers including TfL, Tubelines and advised the Department for Transport on the Major Roads Programme acting as Principal Project Sponsor.

Tony moved to Heathrow in 2011 as Head of Surface Access Projects. In 2013 he was given responsibility for leading Heathrow’s response to the Airports Commission and securing Government support to build a 3rd runway. Following the Government’s announcement in support of Heathrow in 2016, Tony led all airline engagement in relation to Heathrow expansion. In 2018, Tony was appointed Surface Access Director, bringing together for the first time all Heathrow’s surface access responsibilities including delivering mode share targets, Heathrow Express and the commercial elements of the business such as car parking and car rental.

Tony is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and previously was Chairman of the Editorial Panel of Civil Engineering, the Institutions’ flagship journal between 2011 and 2015 having served on the Panel since 2007. Tony is also a Fellow of the Association for Project Management.
