Biography

Dr Tom Chothia is a Senior Lecturer in cyber security at the University of Birmingham. He leads research projects on industrial control systems security (including rail), analysis of COTS devices, automated firmware analysis, protocol analysis and supply chain security. His work on bank app security, pacemaker security, e-passport traceability and BitTorrent monitoring have received wide spread media coverage. His teams rail work includes a detailed cryptographic analysis of the EuroRadio protocol, as well a proposal for a post quantum secure key management scheme for ERTMS.
