Biography

Stuart Broadbent is Obsolescence Director at Alstom, responsible for all aspects of obsolescence management in the business, addressing the challenge of reconciling the long life-cycle of railway equipment with the short development cycles of commercial and industrial equipment and components. He manages a specialist engineering team that coordinates and supports all Alstom’s obsolescence management activities, both in the design & build, and in the service phase of system and product lifecycle. He has worked in the rail industry since 1977, and joined GEC Traction (later GEC Alsthom and Alstom) as a graduate engineer in 1980. He is Vice Chair of International Institute of Obsolescence Management (IIOM) UK Chapter, and a member of the IIOM International Board.
