Biography

Rob has over 30-years’ experience in the rail industry in the UK, Australia and Hong Kong. Prior to joining the NR Board, he was Managing Director of Chiltern Railways where, in addition to taking responsibility for all aspects of the Chiltern passenger business between London and the West Midlands, he also opened the new route between London and Oxford (the first new rail connection between London and a major UK city in over 100 years).

Rob first joined Chiltern in 2000 as Projects Director, where he led the Evergreen 1 and 2 route upgrade projects including the building of Chiltern’s Wembley depot.

Rob is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institute of Directors and is a Chartered Director. Rob holds a civil engineering degree from Leeds and an MBA from Aston Business School.

He is a co-founder and Chairman of an on-demand travel tech start up business and is Chairman of the Advisory Board at Aston Business School; founder and honorary trustee of LIFE Trust; trustee of the Railway Children charity.
