Michael joined MHCLG in 2010, and has led the work on several areas of planning reform, including the National Planning Policy Framework. He was acting Chief Planner between April and September this year, and is now overseeing the policy work to take forward the proposals in the Planning for the Future White Paper. A professional planner, prior to joining MHCLG he was Head of Development & Infrastructure at the Government Office for the East of England, where he worked across planning, housing and transport issues in the region. Michael was awarded an OBE for services to planning in the 2020 New Year’s Honours.
