Mark is the Economic Development and Planning Policy Manager at Staffordshire County Council, with a masters in Town and Country Planning and is a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute. In his current role, he leads on infrastructure planning to support the Local Planning Authorities, Neighbourhood Plan forums and overseeing a number of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects.
Staffordshire is a large shire county, located within the West Midlands and the County Council in its role as the strategic tier of local government administration is actively engaged in supporting a number of emerging pan-regional and sub-national arrangements including Midlands Engine, Midlands Rail, and Midlands Connect.
Mark is also leading the authority in producing a HS2 Growth Strategy through a ground-breaking collaboration of seven local authorities and the Cheshire and Warrington and Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Local Enterprise Partnerships. It aims to unlock major new growth and investment opportunities which could deliver more than 100,000 new homes and 120,000 new jobs by 2040 by creating a new Growth Zone at the connecting gateway to the Northern Powerhouse and the Midlands Engine.
