Leigh is a Director at Counter Context focussing on public affairs. He joined the company in April 2017. He provides strategic advice on engagement with local government and city regions, MPs and national government, local communities, the media and key stakeholders on property, transport and energy-related projects.
Leigh brings a unique perspective on urban regeneration, planning, development, consultation and public-private sector partnership having led on transport, the economy and devolution as Deputy Leader and a Cabinet Member for six years at Sheffield City Council up to spring 2017. During his time in politics, Leigh was also the Vice-chair of the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Authority and a Non-Executive Director of the Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust. Leigh represented the city on strategic issues at city region/LEP, core cities and national government levels and gained significant media experience through presenting and managing a range of difficult and controversial issues.
Prior to becoming a senior councillor, Leigh worked as a business-to-business public relations and communications professional for over 10 years.
