Biography

Gerry McFadden is a Chartered Engineer and the Engineering Director of Govia Thameslink Railway. He started his career in 1991 in the Network South East Traction Engineering section at Kings Cross, before moving to Technical Standards Manager at LTS Rail then the New Trains Project Manager at WAGN. He was then the Fleet Manager for LTS Rail/c2c where he introduced the first Electrostars – the Class 357 rolling stock to service. In 2001 he worked for Alstom running Wembley and Willesden depots introducing Pendolinos to service before moving to Fleet Manager for GNER. In 2006 he became Engineering Director for Southern Railway and in 2013 took a short sabbatical from his post to write the Fleet section of the GTR Thameslink bid; before leading the fleet and depot mobilisation workstream of the GTR franchise, becoming Engineering Director GTR in July 2014. Gerry is currently leading the Thameslink Programme for GTR.
