Carole-Anne Davies is Chief Executive of the Design Commission for Wales, the national champion promoting good design for the built environment across sectors. Her career in senior management includes roles as Director of Cardiff Bay Arts Trust; Trustee at National Museum Wales and consultant to the Scottish Government. She is Chair of the Gregynog Trust and an alumna of the CSCLeaders Commonwealth International Study Conference, Harvard Kennedy School Executive programme and the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL). Carole-Anne is an active mentor focusing on equalities and leadership capability. With an humanities background, she is also a passionate advocate of the power of culture and the arts to enrich lives. She served as a judge for the innovation panel for the First Minister’s inaugural St David's Awards in 2014, is a Life Fellow of the Institute of Welsh Affairs and a Fellow of the University of Wales Trinity St David. Carole-Anne has worked with successive Ministers, securing political and financial support; establishing and sustaining Wales-wide multi-disciplinary networks and with her team at the Design Commission has brought significant expertise and influence to major projects including Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon proposals, BBC Cymru Wales headquarters, Cardiff Central Square, St Fagans National History Museum, roads and energy infrastructure projects, along with numerous residential and commercial projects and the development of Swansea City Centre and waterfront. She is a very, very keen gardener.
