Alyn directs, manages and coordinates engagement and statutory responses associated with major infrastructure and development projects which may have an impact in Somerset. This includes identifying funding requirements and possible external funding sources, and negotiating funding settlements to deliver the required standard of service both during the pre-application phase of an NSIP proposal and during implementation of a scheme. He led Somerset County Council’s response to EDF Energy’s proposal for a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C. This required the coordination of all County Council services to ensure that the impacts and opportunities were considered and integrated into the response to the application.
Alyn is currently the Operations Director for Somerset County Council with responsibility for highways maintenance and infrastructure, planning services and public transport. He is also a member of the National Infrastructure Planning Association Council.
