ERTMS and ETCS 2016: The Future of Railway Signalling in the UK

Implementing the digital railway and the transition to ETCS

Tue 22nd - Wed 23rd March 2016 Stephenson Harwood, London
  • ERTMS, the new form of rail signalling in the UK presents a big challenge for the UK rail industry; removing the signals from the track to on board the train will require a great deal of change for the entire industry. From new trackside infrastructure, to retrofitting rolling stock, to the training of staff, there are number of strategic and operational challenges that need to be considered.

This event brings together 100+ senior rail professionals from passenger services and freight operators through to suppliers; and is the only event that allows you to explore the strategy and delivery of ERTMS and the fitment of ETCS in the UK.

You will hear the latest updates from Network Rail on the expected timelines and roll out plans for ERTMS in the UK, receive insight from TOCs on their work so far in preparing for ETCS and explore the effect on the industry of ERTMS implementation and how we can work together to deliver the transition smoothly. We will also compare the progress and plans in the UK to other European countries and review what lessons can be learnt from both these and metro signalling upgrade projects to predict what capacity ERTMS could unlock, and to ensure that the change in signalling is as effective as possible.

Watch the full round up of this year’s ERTMS and ETCS event.
